Bursary

Conditions governing Bursary Applications

  1. Students studying for Masters / Doctorate Degree at a recognized university in South Africa.
  2. Subject of the thesis must be in palliative care
  3. To encourage research in palliative care.
  4. Bursary to be used towards university fees.
  5. Bursary to be inclusive of the holistic approach in palliative care and can therefore be awarded for a medical, nursing, psychosocial and allied professions.
  6. Conditions of agreement to be signed by applicants.
  7. Protocol has to have ethics approval from relevant approved Ethics Committee.
  8. Protocols to be submitted with application and maximum time of the completion of research is to be 3 years.
  9. PCSSA has to be acknowledged when the research is published.
  10. PCSSA has a right to use the research in advocacy.
  11. PCSSA members have preference.
  12. Applications to be approved by the Executive Committee of the PCSSA.
  13. No reasons are given to the unsuccessful candidate as to why he did not meet the criteria.
  14. If the candidate does not complete his thesis after 3 years then the bursary money needs to be paid back to PCSSA by the candidate.
  15. Contract is signed by candidate.
