Conditions governing Bursary Applications
- Students studying for Masters / Doctorate Degree at a recognized university in South Africa.
- Subject of the thesis must be in palliative care
- To encourage research in palliative care.
- Bursary to be used towards university fees.
- Bursary to be inclusive of the holistic approach in palliative care and can therefore be awarded for a medical, nursing, psychosocial and allied professions.
- Conditions of agreement to be signed by applicants.
- Protocol has to have ethics approval from relevant approved Ethics Committee.
- Protocols to be submitted with application and maximum time of the completion of research is to be 3 years.
- PCSSA has to be acknowledged when the research is published.
- PCSSA has a right to use the research in advocacy.
- PCSSA members have preference.
- Applications to be approved by the Executive Committee of the PCSSA.
- No reasons are given to the unsuccessful candidate as to why he did not meet the criteria.
- If the candidate does not complete his thesis after 3 years then the bursary money needs to be paid back to PCSSA by the candidate.
- Contract is signed by candidate.
